To have and have not

Standard
To have and have not

By Ernest Hemingway (1937)

The story starts very strongly about Harry Morgan, an honest man who is forced into running contraband between Cuba and Key West as a means of keeping his crumbling family financially afloat. He starts killing a man who wants to smuggle chinese immigrants. Subsequently, there is more violence in the story.

Halfway the story kind of lead of wander off. The ending comes that Harry was dead and his wife suddenly become very brave. She starts to think of ways to proceed to hold the family financially, such as selling of the house as the first step. This is not one of his best books and the author did mentioned that it was a piece of junk.

Anyway, it was through this book that I realised that there was a Ernest Hemingway House and Museum in Key West at Florida. It was designated a U.S National Historic Landmark as it was the home of the famous author Ernest Hemingway.

See a picture of the house below.
