By Agatha Christie
This novel is one of Agatha Christie’s most popular and must read book. It is so popular that a PC game was made out of it. Actually I feel that the story moves quite slowly, it was only towards the end of the book, I felt emotional when it was revealed how the murder took place.
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American named Ratchett. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help. Sadly the very next day Ratchett’s worst fears become reality, when he is found dead in his cabin, a victim of multiple stab wounds.
Ratchett’s real identity was found – he was the mastermind behind the brutal kidnapping and murdering of a small baby girl, Daisy Armstrong. Who was it on the train who wanted to kill him? Later Poirot found out that each of the passengers had a direct or indirect relationship to the victim Daisy Armstrong.
As I was reading the book, I was thinking it is quite impossible. How can all these people be on the train at the same time and have this one connection. Luckily Agatha Christie wrapped up the whole story quite nicely.
